There is a bulletin board in the hospital here... ' Keep your girl children.' Abortion, altho illegal, is widely practised here. Girl children are a burden to the family. Not only do they leave and become the property of the husbands family when they are 12 or 13, but they take a handsome dowry with them. I am glad I did not have that kind of pressure to deal with.
